How we handle money, sponsorships, and your data

Short version: we sometimes use affiliate links, we label sponsored content, we don’t sell or rent your email, and we use the lightest analytics we can get away with. The longer version is below.

Affiliate links

Some links to third-party tools — particularly in tool review and recommendation posts — are affiliate links. If you click one and end up paying for the product, we may earn a small commission, at no additional cost to you. We only link to tools we have actually used and would recommend regardless. The presence or absence of an affiliate program never influences whether a tool makes it onto a list, and never influences our rating of it. If we cut a tool from a list, we cut it; we do not keep it for the commission.

Sponsorships

From time to time, we accept sponsorship slots from companies that want to reach our audience. Sponsored content is always labeled — typically with the word “Sponsor” or “Sponsored” at the top of the placement. We retain editorial control over everything else. Sponsors do not get to influence non-sponsored coverage, and they do not get advance access to upcoming articles.

Newsletter privacy

• We collect your email address and nothing else when you subscribe.
• We use it to send the weekly briefing and occasional related updates. That is it.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your email with third parties.
• Every email has a one-click unsubscribe. When you unsubscribe, we remove you from the active list.

Analytics

We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which articles people read and where readers come from. We do not use cross-site tracking, behavioral ad pixels, or anything that builds a profile of you across the web. If you use a tracker blocker, our site will work normally.

Cookies

We aim to ship the site with no third-party tracking cookies. Functional cookies (like remembering you dismissed a banner) may be used; if we add anything that requires consent, you will see a banner.

Corrections

We get things wrong sometimes. If you find a factual error, email hello@ailaradar.com and we will fix it and note the correction at the bottom of the article.

Editorial independence

No advertiser, sponsor, or affiliate partner has been promised positive coverage in exchange for money. If that ever changes, we will tell you on this page first.
